NODE 15: Southwest of the Circle

Alexander Thom saw megalithic circles not only as astronomical event predictors, but also as indicators of their makers' intuitive knowledge of pure geometric form. He determined that the stone ring here at Calanais followed the pattern of a "Type A Flattened Circle" in an attempt to give the ratio of circumference to radius a value of three rather than 3.14.
